On Monday afternoon we had a visit to Buttress Architects for a talk on converting period buildings and considerations with refurbishments. Grant Prescott, who is one of the Accredited Consolation Architect working at Buttress Architects gave us a presentation on repurposing existing building. Accredited Consolation Architects are Architects accredited in building conservation & accredited for their knowledge & experience in the care & conservation of historic & listed buildings.

The presentation covered the projects Buttress Architects have done in regards to building control complacence, Heritage Designation, conservation and preservation.
The presentation was packed with useful information In regards to repuposing existing buildings. I think its a sustainable approach to repurpose an existing building and it aids you towards designing as well where you can pick and match the interior matching to the building and preserving its cultural and heritage values. On the other hand you can introduce some fixtures to give a fusion theme too where there is a celebration of history and contemporary.
